About Karakoram Ascents

Northern Pakistan, guided by people who call it home

We are a locally owned expedition company running treks, climbs, and cultural journeys across Gilgit-Baltistan and the Karakoram. Real mountains, honest planning, and a team that stays with you from the first message to the flight home.

Karakoram Ascents started with a straightforward belief: the best trips in Pakistan happen when travelers are looked after by locals who genuinely know the ground, not by an office far from the mountains.

Our guides grew up in these valleys. They know which pass closes after rain, which family will still have a warm meal at the end of a long day, and when to push on and when to rest. That knowledge shapes every itinerary we build, whether you are walking to Fairy Meadows for the first time or planning a month on Spantik.

We are not trying to be the biggest operator in the region. We are trying to be the one you trust when the weather shifts, the pass is steep, and you need someone who has been here before.

What we do

Treks, climbs, and journeys that feel personal

We run fixed departures and fully custom itineraries across the north of Pakistan. Some guests come for a single trek beneath Nanga Parbat. Others spend three weeks on the Baltoro or aim for a 7,000m summit. Families join us for valley journeys with gentle walking days and time in Hunza villages.

What ties it together is how we work: small groups, realistic pacing, fair treatment for porters and local crews, and the kind of straight talk that helps you choose the right trip before you book a flight.

How we work

Planning that starts with listening

Most trips begin with a simple message: where you want to go, when you can travel, and what kind of experience you are after. We reply with honest suggestions, not a hard sell. If a route is too ambitious or the season is wrong, we say so.

Once the plan feels right, our local team handles permits, transport, guides, porters, camps, and food. On the trail you have experienced leadership beside you and support back in town if plans need to change. When you get home, we genuinely want to hear how it went.
